In the past decade, significant advances in research have begun to unravel important relationships between soil, water, nutrients, and the diverse plant-soil-microbe-soil fauna and plant-to-plant interactions right beneath our feet. In 2022, we introduced turf managers to the concept of rhizosphere engineering. The goal of this presentation is to review key concepts and to introduce results that have emerged from the basic research community and from real world studies conducted with the rhizosphere modifying soil surfactant technology used in Excalibur.
